Vanessa dreams of dancing her way to the top, as well as of Frankie, with whom she is in love. Frankie, however, who gets by doing odd jobs, has a crush on Sharon, a professional dancer. In a backyard studio, the three of them, along with three friends, are constantly coming up with new dance styles. When the friends learn one day about a dance competition in New York, they see their chance.
